Salt Lake Animal Advocacy Movement (SLAAM)

About SLAAM

Salt Lake Animal Advocacy Movement (SLAAM) is a grassroots animal rights organization based out of Salt Lake City. SLAAM started in 2007 to spearhead a campaign against local restaurants serving foie gras. After months of letter writing, phone calls, and protests, eight restaurants in the Salt Lake City/Park City area removed foie gras from their menu. As a result of this campaign, there is no known restaurant in Salt Lake City that serves foie gras. Following this success, SLAAM coordinated the first ever “Confronting Cruelty” grassroots animal rights conference at the Salt Lake City Public Library in 2008.

SLAAM continues to advocate for animal rights through public demonstrations and vegan outreach opportunities and remains the largest and most active animal rights organization in Utah. We have very active campaigns against the University of Utah animal experimentation labs and against any restaurant serves foie gras. We could always use more voices to add to our choir. Please consider getting involved in SLAAM by attending our meetings, demonstrations, and responding to our action alerts.
